Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA)

 
The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) was formed in 1972 under the Marine Products Export Development Authority Act of 1972. Since inception, MPEDA has played an extremely pivotal role in ensuring overall growth of the Indian marine segment.
 
Some of the primary objectives of the organisation are as follows:
 
  • Increasing exports of Indian marine products
  • Setting and upgrading quality standards of Indian seafood
  • Facilitating marketing and warehousing support to Indian seafood exporters
  • Collecting and disseminating useful information pertaining to the sector
  • Participating in international trade fairs and exhibitions to promote Indian seafood at a global platform
  • Promoting value-added seafood
  • Boosting of organic farming
  • Ensuring conservation management
 
The organisation provides extensive training to personnel belonging to the seafood export segment. It also publishes various journals and magazines to spread awareness about the Indian marine products industry.
